In December 25 I saw a local farmer was selling their 1976 3T type 31 Moi trailer on Finn.no. It was out for 5’000 nok, and at that price it seemed like a good value. Usually I’ve seen them in a little bit better condition go over 10’000 nok. So what was the catch? Well, most of the trailers’s wood was eaten through by bugs and worms, and the axle was very corroded. However, the main frame seemed to be good, and the farmer said the tip-sylinder was supposed to be working as well. So I bought it and picked it up early January 26. Work soon began on pulling it apart. As it currently stands, most of the wood has been taken off so I can start working on restoring the frame. I have also ordered all wood-bits I need pre-fabricated by the sawmill, but have yet to get a date on when they will produce it. The tip-sylinder needs service and testing, and I want to switch the oil in it to match the type my Fergie uses. Some work has begun on smaller metal-parts, as most of them have been sand-blasted and primed. I’ve had trouble finding a suiting paint, but I found a fendt-color that might fit nicely. See the projects site to view an original photo from a brochure.
I should note one thing. The trailer had been sitting for some time as last time it was used it had tipped and fell onto its side. It came with some big extension-walls to make it fit more crops at the cost of its stability. Therefore, one of the side-boards was destroyed, but as I’ve ordered new wood it will be fixed up again.
